Gullesfjord Camping is looking for a Head Chef who wants to build upon a growth journey
The kitchen was upgraded in 2021 and provides a good starting point for further investment.
Here you will have the opportunity to influence and further develop both the food concept, operations, and direction in a business with clear ambitions and great potential.
What we are looking for Who are you and what can you do?
Relevant education and trade certificate is desirable, but not a requirement. If you have good experience from kitchen operations or a similar role, this may also be sufficient.
You have a good understanding of both operational management and what is required to create profitability. Experience with internal controls is also central.
You are comfortable with digital tools and see the value of using systems to streamline operations and improve the customer experience.
Language understanding is also important, as you will meet guests from all over the world. You must be proficient in English. If you are multilingual, it is a plus.
To succeed in the role, you must thrive with responsibility, have high work capacity, and the ability to handle a varied and sometimes hectic everyday life. You are flexible and comfortable with the fact that tasks and pace can vary throughout the season. At the same time, you are structured, solution-oriented, and take initiative when something can be done better.
Tasks What does the job involve?
As Head Chef, you will be responsible for the operation and development of the kitchen, and play a central role in further developing both the concept and direction as part of the management group.
You will work actively with menu development, optimization of operations and purchasing, with a focus on profitability, reduced food waste, and good routines. There is clear potential in further developing the kitchen, both in concept and turnover.
It is also desirable to further develop the offering based on local ingredients where natural.
The scope of responsibility for finance and administration will be adapted to your experience and competence.
You will be given great freedom to leave your mark on the kitchen and develop an offering that meets both the market and the ambitions for further growth.
As part of a smaller organization, you must thrive in a varied workday, where you both take responsibility and contribute operationally -- also outside the kitchen. This is a role for you who wants ownership of what you do, and who is motivated by creating something together with others.
We offer Why apply for the job?
You get the opportunity to further develop a kitchen with a solid foundation and clear potential for growth. Here you can test and develop your own ideas and concepts in a market that is already responding well -- among other things, the signature dish fish & chips has become a clear favorite among guests.
You will have great freedom to leave your mark on both the menu and operations, and become part of a small environment with very short decision-making paths and shared ambitions for further development.
The workday is varied and characterized by seasons, activity, and people from many different nations. For you who also appreciate nature and outdoor life, everything is in place outside of work -- right between Lofoten and Vesterålen with proximity to mountains, sea, and fishing.
Salary according to agreement. Terms are adapted to experience, competence, and what you contribute to the development of the kitchen and the business in general.
Vacation and leisure time are mainly scheduled during quieter periods outside of high season, with good opportunities for continuous time off. This requires good planning in line with operations.
There may also be the possibility of housing by agreement, so that you can be close to both work and daily life.
About the employer:
Gullesfjord Camping is strategically located between Lofoten, Vesterålen, Harstad, and Narvik.
Since Viggo Strand Andreassen took over the operations in 2018, the business has more than fivefolded its turnover and passed 9 million kroner in 2025. The campsite has guests from over 70 nationalities and is continuing to invest in accommodation, food, and drink.
Now, new cabins, further development of the facility, and an ambition for continued growth are on the agenda.
