Production Support Engineer Exterior & Moving Equipment

About the company
Royal Van Lent is one of the two yards behind Feadship. On the Kagerplassen at Kaag, yachts of 70 to 100 metres are completed, on average two a year. In Amsterdam's western port area, Feadship's fourth yard - opened in 2019 by Queen Máxima - has a dock hall for yachts up to 160 metres and also handles refits. Every yacht is custom built to the owner's specification, so engineering questions surface during construction itself. That is exactly where a production support engineer makes the difference.
Your tasks
- You resolve technical bottlenecks in the hull and exterior scope as they surface during construction, with solutions that work in the 3D model and in the workshop. On a yacht that is built only once, there is no prototype to learn from.
- You engineer and integrate moving equipment - garage and tender doors, side shell openings, cranes and platforms - into hull and exterior, including foundations, clearances and interfaces with systems on board.
- You assess manufacturability and feasibility before designs reach production, and feed corrections back into the NX models and drawings in Teamcenter.
- You keep track of the weight and budget impact of every change; on a custom build, small additions quickly add up to questions of stability and cost.
- You safeguard compliance with Class and Flag requirements and the project specification within your scope.
- You are the link between the engineering office, production teams and project leads, and agree with senior engineers on solutions that keep the build schedule intact.
