About the company

Keep the beer wild. Keep the bugs out.

At Uiltje, we love pushing beer in directions it probably wasn't intended for at all.

Gigantic amounts of hops. Strange ingredients. Lab Series experiments. Fresh IPAs. Barrel-aged monsters. And occasionally something that makes everyone in the brewery wonder: are we really doing this?

Usually, the answer is: yes.

But experimenting only works if the quality is rock solid. And that's where you come in.

You will join our small, international production team in Haarlem, consisting of seven nationalities, enormous brewing knowledge, and very little interest in boring beer.

Your tasks

You will work closely with our Master Brewer on quality, research, product decisions, and improvements within the brewery.

  • You will continuously improve our HACCP, food safety, and QA systems and execute the microbiology and quality program.
  • You will perform sampling, analysis, and monitoring, and safeguard quality and food safety within the brewery.
  • You will investigate deviations, complaints, and process disruptions and ensure effective corrective actions.
  • You will manage QA documentation, SOPs, traceability, and audit preparations, and support internal and external audits.
  • As a prevention officer, you will maintain the RI&E and the Plan of Approach, identify safety risks, and work closely with colleagues and Arbo professionals, also providing practical support on the shop floor when necessary.

Requirements

We are looking for a QA Specialist with a background in Microbiology, Food Technology, or Food Science, who is curious about beer, fermentation, and everything that happens between the raw material and the final can.

You don't need twenty years of experience in a brewery. You do need a scientific mindset, a hands-on mentality, and the courage to speak up when something isn't right.

This is you

  • Someone who gets just a little too interested when a fermentation starts behaving strangely.
  • A higher education degree in Microbiology, Food Technology, Food Science, Biotechnology, or a similar field.
  • Practical knowledge of microbiology, fermentation, and HACCP.
  • An analytical, hands-on, and proactive attitude, with the conviction to say “stop” when quality or safety is not in order.
  • Experience in a brewery, beverage, or food production is a plus, but we are also open to fast learners at the beginning of their careers.
  • Good command of English. Dutch is a plus. And ideally, of course, you just love beer.

What we offer

This is what you get from us In addition to a lot of fun and occasionally tasting a delicious beer with your colleagues, you can also count on:

  • A gross monthly salary between € 3,100 and € 3,800 based on 40 hours per week, excluding a 13th month. On top of that, you will receive an 8% holiday allowance.
  • 43 vacation days and travel allowance.
  • Discounts on exercising in our fitness room or at more than 600 sports locations in the Netherlands.
  • Significant discounts on our products in the “Dare to Drink Different” staff shop.
  • Always opportunities to develop yourself. In addition to learning “on the job,” we have a Swinkels Academy, where you can follow all kinds of training and courses.
