Electrician
Job Summary
You will maintain, inspect, and repair electrical and automation systems on vessels, perform installations and tests, troubleshoot engines and generators, support vessel crews, and ensure safety and efficiency in all electrical operations onboard.
Responsibilities
- Conduct regular maintenance and inspections of electrical and automation systems on vessels to ensure operational reliability
- Perform on-site repairs and troubleshoot electrical issues promptly to minimize vessel downtime
- Install electrical switches, sensors, transducers, transmitters, current transformers, alternator components, control panels, and related equipment according to technical drawings
- Install engine wiring and electrical systems following provided schematics to ensure proper functionality
- Conduct safety device tests and load tests, accurately recording required parameter readings for compliance and safety verification
- Troubleshoot engines and generators to identify and resolve operational problems efficiently
- Prepare and maintain detailed service reports documenting all work performed onboard vessels
- Guide onboard engineers in operating and maintaining electrical, electronic, electro-hydraulic, electro-pneumatic, and automation systems to improve system performance
- Repair, service, and maintain equipment in the workshop to support vessel operations
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure timely availability of spare parts for installations and repairs
- Provide technical support and advice to vessel crew and other departments to resolve electrical and automation issues
- Adhere strictly to all safety protocols, guidelines, and standards during electrical work to ensure a safe working environment
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of spares, tools, and worksite through routine housekeeping
- Perform any other ad hoc duties assigned by the supervisor to support operational needs
Required competencies and certifications
- ITE or Diploma in Electrical Engineering or a relevant qualification
- Minimum 2 years of working experience on board vessels or in a related electrical maintenance area
- Ability to attend vessels and work effectively under tight schedules
Preferred competencies and qualifications
- Experience in marine engine control systems, automation, troubleshooting, or electrical maintenance
- Strong interpersonal skills, problem-solving abilities, and teamwork orientation
Salary: $200/day - $350/day
