You keep the European logistics chain running Fresh milk, fruit juice, palm oil, chemicals — products that people and industries need daily. They move invisibly but indispensably through Europe, transported in tank containers and tank trailers from Royal Den Hartogh Logistics. But what if communication between the customer and operations falters? If no one takes charge during an escalation, or if the team loses its way in a tangle of loose agreements? Then the entire chain feels it.

As a Customer Service Coördinator in Barneveld, you are the working foreman who prevents that. You lead a diverse team of four to five account managers, bring structure where it is lacking, and ensure that the department does not just run, but truly performs. You will be given the freedom — and the responsibility — to shape a new way of working. Almost from scratch. That is not a supporting role. That is a unique opportunity.

What makes this position unique? This is not a position where you manage an existing system. Den Hartogh Barneveld is on the eve of an organizational transformation: the account management department is receiving a new structure, new processes, and a new culture. You are one of the architects of that change on the shop floor.

You will work in an environment that actively encourages entrepreneurship. No heavy hierarchy, no endless approval rounds. You will be given the space to make decisions, implement improvements, and grow the team into a high-performance organization. The sooner you are on board, the more you can color that new way of working yourself.

What will you do? A glimpse into your responsibilities: Leading and developing the team: You lead weekly meetings regarding KPIs, conduct performance reviews, and coach team members individually. You bring out the best in a diverse team ranging from starters to experienced professionals with 25+ years of service;

Structuring and standardizing processes: You don't just tackle the mismatches between commercial and operations, but look at this on a larger scale. You develop a clear onboarding process for new customers, ensure 'first time right' execution, and reduce unnecessary workload through smarter organization;

Escalation management and stakeholder management: In the event of complex customer problems, you take the lead. You communicate quickly with internal teams, customers, and international colleagues in, among others, the United Kingdom and Poland, and ensure that escalations are resolved in a structured and decisive manner.

Practical example Imagine: a large customer reports that a shipment of liquid raw materials was not unloaded on time, even though the planning indicated otherwise. The account manager does not know exactly who has the lead, and a production stop at the customer is imminent. You intervene. You gather the right people — operations, planning, and the account manager — and take charge of the escalation meeting via Teams. Meanwhile, you notice that this is already the third time this has gone wrong during the handover from commercial to operations. You initiate an improvement process: together with the team, you establish a standard onboarding protocol for this type of customer. Two weeks later, it is secured. In this way, you don't just solve today's problem, but prevent it from arising again tomorrow.

What you bring You have an HBO (higher professional education) working and thinking level and at least 3 to 5 years of relevant work experience, preferably in a logistics or commercial environment;

You are decisive, show ownership, and dare to make choices — even when the situation is not black and white;

You have excellent command of the Dutch language and a good command of the English language; German is a plus.

Management experience is not a hard requirement: a strong personality with the right attitude carries more weight for us than a CV full of management titles. Affinity with Agile or Scrum methodologies is a nice bonus.
