About the position:

Rooted Connections is seeking dedicated and passionate Youth Mentors to join our team. The position requires mentors to meet with vulnerable youth for up to 6 hrs a week. The position offers mentors the flexibility to work evenings and/or weekends. Your role will involve providing guidance and support to help youth identify and develop their skill set to reach their full potential. You will encourage youth to navigate challenges, develop life skills and make constructive choices.

Key Responsibilities:

• Build positive relationships with youth participants
• Provide guidance and support to youth to set and achieve goals
• Plan and facilitate educational and recreational activities
• Assist youth accessing community resources
• Promote positive behavior and coping skills
• Serve as a positive role model for youth participants
• Collaborate with other mentors and staff members to create a supportive environment

Applicants must have a valid drivers license and reliable vehicle.

Rooted Connections requires all youth mentors to have 2 million third-party liability and clear Criminal Record/Vulnerable Sector check.

Previous experience working or volunteering with youth is an asset. Other assets include; a level of comfort working with individuals living with differing abilities, knowledge of child development/trauma, ability to access local community programs/events, and recreational/ leisure activities for youth.
