Principal Computational Biologist -BioTech- Alzheimer's disease
Must-have:PythonCloudAILead
Our client is a seed stage TechBio (£2.7m funding) building a platform solution for identifying drug targets for neurological diseases with in-vitro validation.
About the role:
Lead computational biology strategy for target identification in neurology, combining hands-on pipeline development with scientific leadership and cross-functional collaboration.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead QTL mapping and integrate multi-omics / functional genomics for target prioritisation
- Build and own multi-omics pipelines (QC, normalisation, analysis)
- Collaborate with ML engineers on model design, feature selection, training, evaluation, interpretation
- Define and maintain knowledge graph schemas and computational evidence layers
- Translate outputs into biological hypotheses and support in vitro validation & assay design
Requirements
- PhD + 3 to 5 years in computational biology (multi-omic target discovery)
- Strong Python, R, HPC/cloud computing
- Experience with transcriptomics, proteomics, epigenomics
- Proven work in target discovery, prioritisation, in silico validation
- Strong statistical analysis & data visualisation
- Neurology / neurodegeneration experience (preferred)
- Biotech/pharma background + strong communication & problem-solving
Summary
Hands-on role driving multi-omics target discovery, integrating ML and data platforms, and working closely with experimental teams in a neurology-focused biotech.
