Debt Recovery Specialist
Robert Half are delighted to be supporting a well-established and growing UK financial services business in the appointment of a Debt Recovery Specialist.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced recoveries or collections professional to take ownership of a varied portfolio of delinquent, defaulted and impaired lending accounts, working across personal, commercial and asset finance.
You'll be joining a supportive and collaborative team where you'll have the opportunity to manage more complex cases and develop your experience across the full recovery lifecycle.
The Role
As a Debt Recovery Specialist, you'll be responsible for progressing accounts through the recovery process, using sound judgement to determine the most appropriate strategy for each individual case.
You'll combine commercial awareness, negotiation skills and customer care to maximise recoveries, minimise losses and achieve fair outcomes.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Managing and progressing delinquent and defaulted accounts.
- Contacting customers via telephone, email, letter, SMS and other approved channels.
- Assessing individual circumstances and determining appropriate recovery strategies.
- Negotiating repayment arrangements, settlements and sustainable resolutions.
- Identifying vulnerable customers and applying appropriate forbearance.
- Supporting asset recovery, repossessions and enforcement activity.
- Working closely with solicitors, insolvency practitioners, recovery agents, valuers and auction houses.
- Supporting litigation and insolvency cases, including bankruptcies, IVAs, administrations and liquidations.
- Maintaining accurate case records and ensuring all activity is fully documented.
- Producing portfolio and management information.
- Identifying risks, trends and opportunities to improve recovery performance.
- Ensuring all activity complies with legal, regulatory and company requirements.
About You
We're looking for someone who is professional, resilient, commercially aware and customer focused, with the confidence to have challenging conversations and make sound decisions.
You'll ideally have experience in:
- Debt recoveries
- Collections
- Debt resolution
- Credit control
- Financial services
- Customer service within a regulated environment
Experience of defaulted lending, commercial debt, asset finance, enforcement or insolvency would be particularly advantageous.
You'll also bring:
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- Confidence handling difficult or sensitive conversations.
- Strong judgement and problem-solving ability.
- Excellent organisation and the ability to prioritise a varied caseload.
- Strong IT and systems capability.
- Excellent attention to detail and record-keeping skills.
- A genuine understanding of treating customers fairly and achieving positive outcomes.
What's on Offer?
- Salary of £35,000 - £40,000 (DOE).
- Discretionary bonus scheme.
- Monday to Friday, 9:00am - 5:00pm, 35 hours per week.
