Billing Clerk
Billing Specialist Location: Datchet - 5 days per week Salary: £30,000 - £32,000
A growing UK-based business is looking for an experienced Billing Specialist to join its finance team. This is a hands-on role focused on ensuring accurate and timely billing across a multi-entity organisation.
You will work closely with Finance, Credit Control, Operations and other internal stakeholders to manage billing activity, resolve complex queries and ensure invoices are produced accurately and in line with contractual requirements.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced billing professional looking to take ownership of a varied billing function within a growing organisation.
Key responsibilities
- Produce accurate and timely customer invoices across multiple entities.
- Ensure billing is completed in line with contractual terms and agreed deadlines.
- Review billing exceptions and resolve complex invoicing queries.
- Maintain accurate customer pricing, contracts and billing data.
- Investigate discrepancies and ensure billing issues are resolved promptly.
- Work closely with Credit Control to support effective cash collection.
- Perform billing reconciliations and investigate discrepancies.
- Support month-end close and ensure billing deadlines are met.
- Assist with audit requests and provide supporting documentation.
- Produce billing reports and monitor volumes, backlogs and outstanding issues.
- Identify opportunities to improve billing processes, controls and efficiency.
- Support system improvements, automation and wider finance transformation projects.
- Work closely with internal stakeholders to resolve billing disputes and queries.
What we're looking for
- Previous experience within a Billing, Sales Ledger or Accounts Receivable environment.
- Strong understanding of billing processes and financial controls.
- Experience managing complex or high-volume billing activity.
- Excellent attention to detail and a strong focus on accuracy.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
- Confident communication skills and the ability to work with stakeholders across a business.
- Strong Excel and finance systems experience.
- A proactive approach with a genuine interest in process improvement.
- The ability to investigate problems, identify solutions and work independently.
