Job Title: Head of Venture Building Funds / Principal (f/m/d)

Job Description: We are looking for a Head of Venture Building Funds / Principal who will significantly help shape our investment strategy and manage the financial performance of our global Venture Building.

In this strategic leadership role, you will be responsible for the allocation of our first Venture Building fund with a volume of 200 million euros. In doing so, you will manage capital allocation via various Special Purpose Vehicles together with different partners – including Limited Partners (LPs) and Service Providers – as well as direct investments in Venture Building activities in alignment with our overarching investment theses.

If you want to help shape the establishment of a virtual Fund-of-Funds for Venture Building within a large corporation and combine your investment experience with entrepreneurial thinking, this role offers you the opportunity to make a real difference in the industry.

  • Shape investment strategy: You are responsible for the financial perspective in the definition and further development of the overarching investment theses of our Venture Building fund – in close coordination with our Head of Strategy as well as Corporate Strategy.
  • Analyze and pre-select investment opportunities: You develop investment scenarios and sound recommendations for capital allocation, taking into account different risk, return, and strategic objectives. You conduct Financial and Commercial Due Diligences of our potential General Partners – predominantly Venture Studios – for possible Special Purpose Vehicles. This includes interviews, financial modeling, and participation in negotiations. Furthermore, you prepare investment decisions and Investment Memoranda for final asset allocation in coordination with our Head of Partnering/Ecosystems.
  • Structure complex deals: You structure sophisticated transactions worldwide, such as Special Purpose Vehicles, with high financial diligence and strategic foresight. Together with Corporate Legal, Tax and Compliance, as well as external consultants, you develop recommendations for LP commitments, Side Letters, and strategic cooperation agreements.
  • Manage and further develop the portfolio: You develop frameworks for portfolio construction and capital allocation to maximize the financial and strategic return of our global Venture Building funds. You design and implement meaningful financial KPIs and systematically track performance to identify financial risks early and target growth opportunities. Furthermore, you establish processes and control mechanisms to effectively manage and continuously optimize our growing portfolio.

Qualifications:

  • Investment experience: You have several years of professional experience in Investment Management, Venture Capital, Corporate Venturing, Corporate Finance, or a comparable environment. Experience in the field of Fund-of-Funds is desirable and an advantage.
  • Strategic investor: You have a sound understanding of investment strategies, portfolio management, capital allocation, and financial deal structures.
  • Entrepreneurial mentality: You combine strategic thinking and financial precision with a pragmatic hands-on mentality and entrepreneurial action.
  • Trusted sparring partner: You can translate complex financial matters into clear and well-founded recommendations for action and represent these confidently to senior stakeholders and decision-makers.
  • Global collaboration: You bring experience in international and cross-functional working environments and move confidently in both corporate structures and entrepreneurially oriented environments.
  • Education and languages: You have a Master's degree in Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or a comparable field and are business fluent in English. German skills are an advantage.

Additional Information: The position can be located in Ludwigsburg or Berlin, Germany – with the possibility of working remotely.
