Civil & Structural Engineer

About the company

This is a permanent position with an established civil and structural design consultancy, where you will be responsible for coordinating and delivering packages through to RIBA Stage 4, producing defendable calculations, reports and statutory submissions to support safe, compliant delivery.

Your tasks

In this role you will carry out structural assessments and detailed design for new-build, refurbishment and modification projects. You will work across foundations, reinforced concrete slabs, structural steelwork, masonry, retaining elements and associated civil works, as well as site levels, access roads, pavements, drainage and underground infrastructure.

You will also review ground investigation information, define surveys and assumptions, support tender clarifications, contribute to CDM 2015 design risk management, and support Building Warrant / SER certification documentation where required.

• Lead civil and structural engineering activities from feasibility through to RIBA Stage 4 technical design
• Structural assessments, calculations and detailed design for new-build, refurbishment and modification projects
• Design of foundations, RC slabs, steelwork, masonry, retaining elements and associated civil works
• Civil design input covering levels, hardstanding, access roads, pavements, drainage and underground infrastructure
• Edinburgh based, on-site role, 40 hours per week

Requirements

Are you a Senior Civil Engineer, Structural Engineer or Civil & Structural Engineer looking for a role where you will take real ownership of designs and see projects through from feasibility to detailed technical delivery? Do you want to be trusted to lead calculations, assessments and design decisions across a varied pipeline of UK building and infrastructure work?

This role would suit a Senior Civil & Structural Engineer from a consultancy background who wants greater technical responsibility, end-to-end project involvement and the autonomy to lead and defend high-quality designs.

The Person

• Degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering (or closely related discipline)
• Strong UK civil/structural design consultancy experience delivering through to RIBA Stage 4
• Confident producing and defending calculations and designs; knowledge of UK/Scottish regs and Eurocodes

What we offer

£40,000 - £45,000 + Technical Progression + Project Ownership + Varied Design Work + Long-Term Stability + Up To 15% Bonus
