Trainee Customs Agent
Right Now Group are recruiting for a Trainee Customs Agent to join an established transport and logistics business based in Colnbrook .
This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to start or develop a career within Customs, Freight and International Logistics . You will join an established Customs team of six , receiving training and support while gaining hands-on experience across Customs declarations, clearance processes and UK-European road freight movements.
Previous Customs experience is not essential . The business is happy to consider a junior candidate with the right attitude and willingness to learn, as well as someone who already has some exposure to Freight, Logistics or Customs. Key Responsibilities of a Trainee Customs Agent
- Assist with Customs declarations and clearance processes
- Prepare and check Customs and shipping documentation
- Support the team in ensuring Customs entries are processed accurately and on time
- Prepare driver paperwork for inbound and outbound vehicles travelling by road between the UK and Europe
- Communicate with customers, suppliers and internal teams
- Assist with resolving missing or incorrect Customs documentation
- Develop your knowledge of Customs procedures, regulations and systems
- Ensure information is entered accurately onto internal systems
- Follow company procedures and maintain accurate records
- Work closely with experienced members of the six-person Customs team
- Support the wider Customs operation during busy periods
- Complete additional Customs and operational duties as required

Skills & Experience Required for a Trainee Customs Agent
- Previous Customs experience is not essential
- Genuine interest in developing a career within Customs, Freight or Logistics
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Good organisational and time-management skills
- Confident written and verbal communication skills
- Comfortable using computers and learning new systems
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
- Reliable with a positive and proactive attitude
- Strong willingness to learn and develop
- Previous experience within Freight Forwarding, Logistics, Administration or Customer Service would be advantageous
- Existing Customs experience or knowledge would be welcomed but is not required
- Comfortable working within a busy operational environment

Salary & Benefits for a Trainee Customs Agent
- £28,000 - £32,000 depending on experience
- Circa £28,000 for a more junior / entry-level candidate
- Higher end of the salary range available for candidates bringing relevant industry experience
- Monday to Friday
- 09:00 - 18:00
- Permanent, full-time position
