Luton Van Driver
Right Now Group are recruiting for a Luton Van Driver to join an established transport and logistics business operating within the freight and air cargo sector.
This is a permanent driving position working with a customer base predominantly made up of Freight Forwarders , completing collections and deliveries from shippers across the local and regional area.
You will be driving a Luton van fitted with a tail lift , typically completing between 3-8 collections and deliveries per day . The majority of movements will involve general freight, with a small amount of Dangerous Goods.
Routes will vary depending on customer requirements, with the furthest typical journey being Birmingham and back .

Key Responsibilities of a Luton Van Driver
- Complete daily collections and deliveries for Freight Forwarding customers
- Typically complete between 3-8 collections and deliveries per day
- Collect freight directly from shippers and deliver into freight and logistics facilities
- Drive a Luton van fitted with a tail lift
- Complete local and regional driving routes depending on daily customer requirements
- Undertake longer-distance runs when required, typically no further than Birmingham and back
- Safely load, secure, transport and unload freight
- Operate the vehicle tail lift safely and correctly
- Handle predominantly general freight alongside a small amount of Dangerous Goods
- Check collection and delivery paperwork for accuracy
- Obtain signatures and Proof of Delivery documentation
- Communicate with the Transport team regarding collections, deliveries, delays and changes to planned routes
- Liaise professionally with shippers, Freight Forwarders and other customers
- Complete daily vehicle checks and report any defects
- Ensure freight remains safe and secure throughout transportation
- Follow company Health & Safety and security procedures
- Maintain a professional and customer-focused approach at all times
Skills & Experience Required for a Luton Van Driver
- Minimum 2 years' professional Van Driving experience
- Full UK Driving Licence
- Maximum of 3 points on driving licence
- Previous experience driving a Luton van advantageous
- Comfortable operating a vehicle with a tail lift
- Previous Freight, Transport, Courier or Logistics experience advantageous
- Comfortable completing multiple collections and deliveries throughout the working day
- Confident completing local and regional driving routes
- Good communication and customer service skills
- Reliable and punctual with a professional approach
- Comfortable with the physical aspects of loading and unloading freight
- Flexible regarding start times depending on booked work
- Dangerous Goods experience advantageous but not essential
- Strong attitude and willingness to learn and develop
As the business operates as a CAA Regulated Agent , successful candidates will be required to complete the necessary security screening, including a clean DBS check and five-year checkable employment history/references .
Salary & Benefits for a Luton Van Driver
- £28,000 - £30,000 depending on experience
- Monday to Friday
- Standard working hours of 08:00 - 17:00
- Flexibility required around start times depending on booked jobs
- Earlier 06:00 or 07:00 starts may occasionally be required
