DfMA BIM Manager – Role & Responsibilities Role Overview

Lead and manage the BIM and DfMA delivery for prefabricated MEP projects, providing strategic direction and technical leadership across BIM implementation, prefab module development, multidisciplinary coordination, design documentation, submission and fabrication.

Key Responsibilities

  1. BIM & DfMA Leadership
  • Lead the overall BIM strategy and implementation for DfMA and prefabricated MEP projects.
  • Establish BIM processes, standards and workflows to support modularisation, constructability and project delivery.
  • Provide technical direction to BIM teams and ensure BIM deliverables meet project objectives, standards and programme requirements.
  1. Prefab Module Development
  • Lead the BIM-based development of prefabricated MEP modules from design development through fabrication.
  • Oversee module configuration, spatial requirements, service interfaces, access, installation constraints and constructability.
  • Ensure prefab module design is effectively integrated with architectural, structural and MEP requirements.
  1. BIM Management & Multidisciplinary Integration
  • Manage and direct BIM coordination activities across MEP, architectural, structural, fabrication and site teams.
  • Establish coordination requirements, workflows and responsibilities across project stakeholders.
  • Drive the identification and resolution of major design, interface and constructability issues.
  • Ensure the BIM model reflects the latest approved design and project requirements.
  1. BIM Models & Design Documentation
  • Manage the production and quality of BIM models, shop drawings, fabrication drawings and technical documentation.
  • Establish modelling and documentation standards to ensure consistency, accuracy and constructability.
  • Review and oversee BIM deliverables prior to submission, fabrication and site installation.
  1. PE / Consultant & Design Management
  • Lead the BIM interface with Professional Engineers (PEs), consultants and relevant project stakeholders.
  • Ensure BIM models, drawings and technical information are developed to support engineering review and endorsement.
  • Manage the incorporation of engineering comments, design changes and approved revisions into BIM deliverables.
  1. Submission & Approval Management
  • Manage the BIM-related drawing and document submission process.
  • Ensure coordinated BIM models, drawings and supporting documentation are prepared and submitted in accordance with project requirements and programme.
  • Monitor submission status, technical comments, revisions and approvals to support timely project delivery.
  1. Fabrication & Site Integration
  • Provide BIM leadership in the transition from coordinated design to fabrication and site installation.
  • Oversee the integration of BIM information with fabrication requirements, manufacturing processes, transportation and installation constraints.
  • Lead the resolution of BIM-related fabrication and site issues.
  1. BIM Quality, Standards & Governance
  • Establish and maintain BIM standards, quality control procedures and project BIM requirements.
  • Implement BIM governance to ensure consistency, accuracy and reliability of project information.
  • Drive continuous improvement of BIM and DfMA processes, tools and workflows.
  1. Team & Stakeholder Management
  • Lead and manage BIM personnel involved in DfMA and prefabricated MEP delivery.
  • Define BIM responsibilities, deliverables and workflows across project teams.
  • Act as the senior BIM interface between management, design teams, consultants, PE, fabrication and site teams.
  • Provide BIM expertise and strategic direction to support project decision-making and delivery.
