Responsibilities and assignments We are looking for a specialist-level Product Manager to lead the evolution of the financial company's credit card authorization engine. This is one of the most important systems in the institution: it processes transactions in real time, decides approvals and refusals in milliseconds, and directly impacts revenue, fraud risk, customer experience, and regulatory compliance. The person will be responsible for defining the vision and roadmap of the authorizer, working at the intersection of business, risk, technology, and operations, ensuring that the system is fast, resilient, secure, and capable of sustaining the growth of the card base.

The challenges of the role are:

  • Define and evolve the product vision and the roadmap of the card network and private label credit card authorizer (off us and on us transactions)
  • Prioritize business, risk/fraud, performance, and regulatory initiatives together with the involved areas
  • Translate complex business rules (approval policies, limits, MCC, scoring, network rules) into clear specifications for technical teams
  • Monitor critical system metrics: approval rate, latency (response SLA), and availability (uptime)
  • Conduct discovery with internal areas (Risk, Credit, Anti-fraud, Customer Service) to identify opportunities for improvement in authorization rules
  • Ensure adherence to Banco Central standards, PCI-DSS, and network requirements
  • Act as the focal point on the subject for all high-impact technical decisions (e.g., changes in the authorization core, failover, contingency)
  • Manage critical incidents related to authorization together with all involved teams, including communication with stakeholders
  • Define and monitor product OKRs/KPIs linked to approval, availability, and cardholder experience
  • Elaborate documentation of requirements, decision flows, and business rules for auditing and regulatory areas

Requirements and qualifications It is very important that you have and/or know:

  • Completed higher education.
  • Previous experience as a Product Manager, Product Owner, or similar role in payment methods, cards, or critical transactional systems
  • Knowledge of card authorization flow (ISO messaging, transaction cycle, routing, clearing, and settlement)
  • Familiarity with network rules and regulatory standards (Banco Central, PCI-DSS, LGPD)
  • Experience with high availability and low latency systems (SLAs, 24/7 environments, resilient architectures)
  • Ability to read and discuss technical architecture with technology teams (APIs, queues, microservices, transactional databases)
  • Mastery of agile methodologies (Scrum/Kanban) and product management tools (Jira, Confluence, Miro, etc)
  • Data analysis and product metrics (SQL, dashboards, BI) for data-driven decision making
  • Experience writing PRDs, user stories, and technical and business acceptance criteria.
  • Intermediate/advanced English (documentation from networks and international suppliers is usually in English)
