The Fachbibliothek Philologien provides students, researchers, and teachers with scientific media on Western philologies and related subjects and offers attractive working opportunities. It thus enables research and teaching that is future-oriented and aligned with the needs of excellent science.

The Library Service Area of the Philosophische Fakultät serves the transformation of the libraries of the Philosophische Fakultät into a future-proof network of libraries within the Philosophische Fakultät within the current two-tier library system of the University of Bonn. The goal is to create innovative, efficient, sustainable structures and services together with the Universitäts- und Landesbibliothek, the Dekanat of the Philosophische Fakultät, and the various libraries of the Philosophische Fakultät, which meet the changed forms of use and task profiles of humanities and social science libraries in the digital transformation. This also includes organizational consolidation while preserving the professional identity of the individual institutes of the broadly interdisciplinary Philosophische Fakultät.

Your tasks:

  • strategic development of the Library Service Area of the Philosophische Fakultät, in particular:
  • central contact person for the concerns of the libraries of the Philosophische Fakultät,
  • development of a governance concept for the libraries of the Philosophische Fakultät,
  • representation of the Philosophische Fakultät in library-related matters in cooperation with the Universitäts- und Landesbibliothek Bonn (ULB),
  • further development of the subject-specific digital and physical service portfolio of the libraries of the Philosophische Fakultät as learning and meeting spaces and for scientific collaboration in coordination with the ULB.
  • acquisition of special, project, and third-party funds,
  • management of the Philologische Bibliothek.

Your Qualifications

  • a completed relevant university degree with a doctorate,
  • completed specialist training for the higher service at scientific libraries or a comparable qualification,
  • several years of leadership experience (including lateral leadership),
  • experience in Change Management and strategic negotiation management with various relevant actors in the university,
  • strong communication and conflict resolution skills,
  • a team-oriented personality with high social competence,
  • an independent, very well-structured way of working as well as several years of experience with organizational tasks, project work, and ideally also with innovative learning space development (including international developments)
  • proven very good English skills, level C1.
