Laptop Repair Technician – Component Level / Microelectronics

Job Objective

Diagnose, repair, and maintain laptops at the component level, performing microsoldering work, motherboard repair, BIOS programming, and operating system configuration, ensuring high-quality repairs, compliance with established timelines, and excellent customer service.

Functions and Responsibilities

Electronic Diagnosis and Repair

• Diagnose motherboard failures at the component level.
• Locate and repair short circuits in power lines (19V, VBUS, 3.3V, 5V, among others).
• Perform precision microsoldering for the replacement of USB-C ports, MOSFET, Power IC, connectors, and SMD components.
• Interpret electronic schematics (Schematics) and Boardview to identify and solve failures.

BIOS and Firmware

• Reprogram and restore BIOS/UEFI using external programmers (CH341A, RT809F, SVOD, or others).
• Recover equipment with corrupt BIOS or no video output.
• Update firmware and perform low-level configurations when necessary.

Software and Configuration

• Install and configure Windows 10/11 and macOS (depending on the device).
• Install official drivers and verify correct hardware functionality.
• Create USB installation drives and diagnostic tools.
• Perform data backup and recovery before reinstalling operating systems.

Quality Control

• Execute functional tests of all components of the repaired device.
• Validate the operation of the processor, memory, SSD, battery, ports, audio, camera, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth.
• Perform stability and temperature tests to guarantee the quality of the repair.

Administrative Management and Customer Service

• Prepare technical reports and status reports for assigned equipment.
• Maintain communication with customers in person and via WhatsApp.
• Receive, inspect, and deliver equipment.
• Organize and control the inventory of equipment under repair.
• Provide timely follow-up on the status of each repair.

Requirements

Academic Background

Technician in Computers, Electronics, Microelectronics, or related technical careers. Specialized courses in electronic repair of computers or laptops at the component level will be valued. A university degree is not indispensable.

Experience

• Minimum 2 years of verifiable experience in motherboard repair and microsoldering.
• Experience in electronic diagnosis of laptops at the component level.

Technical Knowledge

• Reading and interpretation of Schematics and Boardview.
• Diagnosis and localization of short circuits.
• Motherboard repair.
• Microsoldering of SMD components.
• Replacement of USB-C connectors, MOSFET, Power IC, and other electronic components.
• Handling of multimeter, oscilloscope, thermal camera, hot air station, precision soldering iron, and microscope.
• BIOS programming using CH341A, RT809F, SVOD, or similar.
• Installation and configuration of Windows and macOS.
• Data backup and recovery.
