Mortgage Operations Manager (Case Handler) Location: Hove – Office based Hours: Full-Time Mon-Fri 9am 17.30 Salary £28k - £32k DOE plus company benefits and a discretionary quarterly bonus following successful completion of a six-month probation period Are you an experienced mortgage case handler who enjoys keeping applications moving, solving problems and making an adviser’s working day more effective? Our client is a small, whole-of-market mortgage brokerage in Hove seeking someone to work closely with its Director and Mortgage Adviser. You’ll be their trusted right hand: taking ownership of cases from submission to completion, keeping clients informed and helping create the capacity for the adviser to write more business. This is an important hire for a growing business. Your contribution will be visible, and strong results will be recognised through a discretionary quarterly bonus after probation. Key Responsibilities: Managing a caseload of mortgage applications from submission through to completion Liaising with clients, lenders, solicitors, and other stakeholders to progress applications efficiently Preparing and submitting mortgage and protection cases, ensuring all documentation meets lender criteria Uploading applications onto lender portals and maintaining accurate records on the CRM system Reviewing client documentation to ensure completeness and compliance with FCA regulations Providing regular updates to clients, ensuring a smooth and transparent customer journey Assisting with more complex and specialist mortgage cases Maintaining adherence to internal processes, compliance requirements, and industry legislation The ideal candidate will have: Proven experience in mortgage administration, ideally within a brokerage setting Excellent communication, organisation, and relationship-building skills Strong IT capabilities, including proficiency in Word, Excel, CRM systems, and lender portals A positive, proactive, and professional attitude with a strong team ethic Qualified by experience or CeMAP qualification (or a willingness to work towards it) The ability to manage workload effectively, meet deadlines, and handle complex cases confidently A genuine desire to further their career within the financial services and mortgage industry Previous mortgage industry experience is essential , ideally in mortgage administration, case management or a similar role within a brokerage. You’ll understand the application journey, be confident using lender portals and know how to keep multiple cases on track without losing sight of the detail. You’ll also bring excellent organisation and communication skills, a proactive approach to solving problems, and the confidence to work closely with a busy adviser. Experience with CRM systems, Word and Excel is important. CeMAP would be welcome, as would a willingness to work towards it.
