HPC DDR Controller Design Engineer / Leader
【Background of Recruitment】 With the electrification and intelligence of automobiles, automotive SoC has become a critical technology area that determines the value of a vehicle. The R-Car series has continued to evolve as a large-scale, high-functionality automotive SoC that integrates numerous SoC IPs, such as CPU, high-speed interfaces, memory, AI/video, functional safety, and security. In our department, in addition to in-house IP development, we are responsible for SoC IP development, including the selection, introduction, and integration of external IPs. The DDR memory subsystem is a core area that supports the performance and quality of the entire SoC. As the scale of development and technical difficulty increase, we need to strengthen our design talent who can consistently proceed with specification study, logic design, verification, and performance evaluation, while solving technical issues in collaboration with peripheral teams and IP vendors. In this recruitment, we welcome engineers/leaders who can engage in the practical development of the DDR memory subsystem, deepen their expertise, and lead development by overseeing their assigned area or the entire subsystem.
【Job Description】 Responsible for the practical development of the DDR memory subsystem in automotive SoCs (R-Car series).
Engage in specification study, microarchitecture design, RTL design, verification, debugging, and performance evaluation, centered on the DDR memory controller.
Perform design while maintaining consistency with the entire SoC, based on requirements such as memory bandwidth, latency, QoS, refresh, low power control, and error handling.
Collaborate with related teams such as DDR PHY, interconnect, CPU/accelerator, and software to promote interface specification consistency and the resolution of technical issues.
Depending on experience, formulate design policies for the assigned area, conduct design reviews, and organize technical issues to lead consensus building with stakeholders.
When introducing external IPs, handle specification confirmation with IP vendors, organization of constraints, integration, and technical issue response.
Collaborate in English with design centers in Japan, India, and Vietnam, playing a role within a global development structure.
*The scope of changes to the workplace and the scope of changes to the duties to be performed will be explained in detail during the selection process.
【MUST】 5+ years of practical experience in digital circuit design or verification in SoC or IP development (RTL design, verification, debugging, specification study, design review support, etc.). Design or verification experience related to memory controllers, memory peripheral circuits, or data transfer control. Experience in understanding design specifications and technical documents and translating requirement specifications into circuit specifications and verification items. Experience collaborating with stakeholders inside and outside the team and addressing issues through technical discussions. Experience organizing design policies and technical issues in an assigned area and building consensus with stakeholders. No resistance to reading and writing technical documents in English or communicating professionally with global teams.
【WANT】 Design/verification experience of DDR/LPDDR memory controllers. Knowledge/experience regarding on-chip buses such as AXI, QoS control, cache coherency, DMA, or memory performance analysis. Experience in building verification environments using UVM, formal verification, or evaluation using performance models. Experience in technical coordination or leading at the subsystem or IP level. Experience in external IP integration, organization of constraints, and technical issue response with IP vendors. Knowledge of power domain separation design and physical design (P&R). Experience in automotive SoC or product development with high functional safety, quality, and reliability requirements. Knowledge of JEDEC DDR/LPDDR standards, or experience in specification study, design, and verification referring to these standards.
