Looking for Shipping Operations Supervisor
Job Responsibilities:
- Manage vessel bookings and cargo movement by coordinating with shipping lines, customers, ports, warehouses and transport providers to secure vessel space and arrange cargo collection and delivery.
- Prepare and verify shipping and customs documentation, including Bills of Lading, Shipping Instructions, customs declarations and other trade documents.
- Handle Letters of Credit and trade-related documentation where required, coordinating with customers, banks and internal teams to meet documentary requirements.
- Monitor and resolve shipment exceptions by tracking containers, following vessel movements and coordinating corrective actions when delays, rollovers or cargo issues occur.
- Manage freight costs and customer billing by checking carrier/vendor invoices, verifying freight charges and preparing accurate final invoices to customers.
- Maintain and close shipment job files by ensuring all operational, financial and shipping documents are properly recorded and updated in the company's systems.
Skills:
- Freight & Logistics Coordination, ability to understand vessel schedules, booking procedures, container requirements, cut-off times and coordinate multiple parties.
- Shipping Documentation & Trade Compliance to prepare, check and maintain accurate shipping documentation while applying relevant customs and trade requirements.
- Trade Documentation & LC Processing, interpret documentary requirements, identify discrepancies and ensure supporting shipping documents are consistent.
- Shipment Tracking & Problem Solving analyse shipment status, identify potential disruptions, communicate with stakeholders and implement timely solutions.
- Freight Cost Management & Billing to understand freight charges, surcharges, vendor billing and perform basic cost verification and reconciliation.
- Logistics Administration, Analysis & Process Improvement able to maintain accurate shipment records, analyse recurring operational issues and recommend practical improvements to existing workflows.
