Children's Social Worker - Looked after Children
Our client Bury Council is looking for a Children's Social Worker to join their Looked after Children team.
Manage a caseload of looked-after children and young people, ensuring their safety, welfare and developmental needs are met. Complete assessments of children and young people, identifying risks, strengths, needs and appropriate interventions. Develop, implement and regularly review care plans, ensuring they promote the child's best interests and achieve positive outcomes. Undertake statutory Looked After Children (LAC) reviews, visiting children in accordance with statutory requirements and ensuring their views and wishes are reflected in planning. Promote permanence for children through reunification, kinship care, adoption, special guardianship or other appropriate long-term arrangements. Assess and support foster carers, connected carers and other placements, working closely with placement providers to ensure children's needs are met. Monitor placement stability and respond promptly to placement breakdowns, safeguarding concerns and changes in risk. Work directly with children and young people to understand their experiences, promote participation and advocate for their voice, wishes and feelings. Develop effective relationships with parents, carers, families and significant others, including supporting family time and contact arrangements. Work collaboratively with foster carers, schools, health professionals, CAMHS, youth justice, police, education services and other agencies.
