Warehouse Supervisor
Some warehouses store pallets of tins. This one stores things people have spent a lifetime collecting.
Our client is a respected specialist in storing and handling fine art and high-value objects for some very prestigious clients. They’re looking for a Warehouse Supervisor who wants to be on the floor, hands-on, and learning to care for items that are, quite literally, irreplaceable.
A small team, a big responsibility
This isn’t a numbers game. The team is small, so if you’ve supervised 100 people at a distribution centre, that’s impressive, but it won’t count for much here. This role is about supporting the Warehouse Manager closely, setting a great example, and building the specialist technical skills needed to handle, store and look after invaluable works properly.
Day to day, you’ll book works in and out on the digital system and keep every location and record accurate. You’ll plan how space is used and make sure each piece goes to the right storage area. You’ll supervise loading and unloading, lead inventory checks and audits, condition-check and report on items, and look after equipment and planned vehicle maintenance. Health, safety, security and housekeeping standards are kept high throughout. You’ll also host the occasional client viewing, sort out any discrepancies with the coordinators, and help train new starters.
What they’re looking for
You’ll have supervisory experience in a warehouse, storage, removals or logistics setting and a solid understanding of warehouse processes and health and safety. You’re organised and methodical, notice the details others miss, and can plan ahead while staying calm when the day changes. Above all, you take real pride in looking after things properly and want to learn.
Art experience isn’t essential.
The right person will be trained in the technical side. Equally, if you’re an art technician or art handler ready for your first supervisory step, and you’d rather be hands-on in the warehouse than out on the road, this could be ideal.
The practical bits
The contract is 45 hours, on split shifts that can start as early as 6am depending on the workload. Overtime is paid at an extra £6 per hour.
