Strateg for External Relations

Region Västerbotten is the social organization that holds the regional development responsibility in Västerbotten county. We are currently in an interesting preparatory phase of merging the two organizations Regionförbundet Västerbotten and Västerbottens läns landsting.

Region Västerbotten also has an influential role in shaping European and national priorities. Through political participation in networks and platforms, conditions are created for influence in the decision-making processes that affect the region's conditions for sustainable growth and development. The Unit for External Relations and strategic place development works to strengthen collaborations, presence, and influence on the regional, national, and international arenas.

Now Region Västerbotten is seeking:

Strateg for External Relations

The position is a permanent employment, full-time, by agreement. The position is organizationally placed within the Unit for Communication and External Relations.

Location: Umeå

Tasks

International cooperation, communication, and increased environmental awareness are success factors for Region Västerbotten's mission for growth and regional development.

The tasks as a strategist primarily involve being active and engaged in the various international networks and collaborations that Region Västerbotten participates in, but also supporting our members, elected officials, colleagues, and partners to take advantage of the opportunities of internationalization.

The work also involves efforts for strategic communication and influence, as well as participating in developing and providing forums, hosting, meeting places, and collaboration platforms that profile and strengthen the Västerbotten brand.

Qualifications

We are looking for you who have a relevant university education or equivalent experience. You should have both documented multi-year experience in international cooperation and in providing support to elected officials operating in international fora/contexts. In your work as a strategist, you will handle qualified contacts with our members, authorities, and institutions. This requires knowledge of how society is governed, very good collaborative skills, and good representation.

The complex issues occurring in the work require a high degree of diplomacy, creativity, and analytical ability, which is why we place great emphasis on your personal qualities. For the position, good language skills in English are requested, a good ability to express oneself in speech and writing, as well as the ability to travel for the position. Experience in media management, social media, and assignment writing is meritorious. You should also have good knowledge of and experience with European cooperation, its institutions, and relevant decision-making processes. A B-driver's license is a requirement.
