With us, you will experience both hardships and fantastic events, within a strong community of colleagues. Welcome with your application!

About the Psychosis Research Clinic We are a newly established clinic within the section for psychosis and geriatric psychiatry at Akademiska sjukhuset that conducts clinical research in the field of psychotic disorders. The operations are closely integrated with care, primarily the psychosis clinic for early intervention, which is a specialist clinic catering to individuals aged 18–35 with suspected psychosis development or newly onset psychotic disorder. The psychosis clinic for early intervention consists of a multidisciplinary team comprising doctors, psychologists, a counselor, nurses, nursing assistants, and occupational therapists, several of whom are also involved in the research.

About the research The research clinic is the clinical base for Uppsala centrum för preventiv psykiatri, a newly established research center at Uppsala universitet focusing on early interventions for severe mental illness. The most prominent project at the clinic is Uppsala Psychosis Cohort (UPC), a longitudinal research study aimed at identifying biological mechanisms in individuals in the early stages of psychosis development to guide the development of new treatments. The project is led by professor Simon Cervenka, who is also the director of the center and research group leader for the research group Psykosforskning och preventiv psykiatri at Institutionen för medicinska vetenskaper, Uppsala universitet.

The clinic is also conducting BEGIN, a study evaluating individual psychoeducation for individuals in a clinical high-risk state for psychosis, as well as research regarding psychological treatment of negative symptoms. Furthermore, we are in the planning phase for a clinical drug trial, an international multicenter study where Uppsala will be one of the participating units. Additional projects will be added as the center is built up.

Tasks You will primarily work in the clinic's research projects. Tasks include informing, including, and interviewing research participants, planning and coordinating examinations, assisting with data collection and documentation, and maintaining contact with participants over time. An important part is ensuring that our studies comply with Good Clinical Practice (GCP). The work is performed in close cooperation with both healthcare and the university and involves collaboration with other parties in the projects, such as other clinics, laboratories, and partners at other academic institutions. It also includes being part of Akademiska sjukhuset's network for research nurses.
