We are Akademiska sjukhuset – one of Sweden's leading university hospitals. As a county hospital and provider of highly specialized care, we offer care to two million people in Central Sweden. Here, something is always happening – a new life is born, a grandmother undergoes surgery, a colleague is hailed as a hero. With us, you will experience both hard trials and fantastic events, in a strong community with colleagues. Welcome with your application!

Here you will have the opportunity to combine your clinical nursing work with driving and developing quality work in a highly specialized hematology ward.

We are looking for you who

  • Are a licensed nurse with an interest in hematology and quality work.
  • Have education or experience in internal audit, accreditation work, improvement, and development.
  • Want to combine a nursing position with a quality coordinator assignment.
  • Are responsible, independent, and driven, with good collaborative skills.
  • Are a proficient computer user (MS Office, preferably Cosmic).
  • Have good knowledge of English, as JACIE's standard is in English.
  • Experience in hematology is meritorious but not a requirement.

About us At hematology ward 101A, we care for patients with blood diseases, such as leukemias and myeloma. Highly specialized care is conducted here with a focus on both medical quality and person-centered hematological nursing.

We take care of patients throughout the entire care process – from investigation to intensive treatment and, for some patients, blood stem cell transplantation or CAR T-cell treatment. Stem cell transplantation is one of our specialist areas, and we are accredited according to JACIE, the European accreditation for facilities working with blood stem cell transplantation.

We work in multidisciplinary teams where nurses, assistant nurses, doctors, and other professions collaborate closely.

The work as a nurse The work as a nurse is varied and medically technically advanced. In addition to working with central venous access devices, cytostatics, immunotherapy, medications against infections, and transfusions, it also includes monitoring and assessment of patients in connection with advanced treatments. At the same time, nursing care is a central part of the work. Many treatments take place over several weeks and recur over time, which means that we get to know many patients and follow them through large parts of their treatment journey. The work includes, among other things:

  • Responsibility for nursing care and treatment of patients with hematological diseases.
  • Administering cytostatics, blood products, and advanced medicinal treatments.
  • Managing central venous access devices.
  • Monitoring and assessing patients' conditions.
  • Informing and supporting patients and relatives throughout the entire care process.
  • Collaborating closely with other professional groups to provide the best possible care.

The work as a quality coordinator As a quality coordinator, you will have a central role in our ongoing quality and improvement work. Together with the accreditation-responsible physician, you are responsible for coordinating and developing the work with our quality management system and ensuring that it meets the requirements for JACIE accreditation. The work involves close collaboration with the management team as well as partners at the hospital who are also affected by the scope of the accreditation.

You work independently with, among other things, internal audits, follow-up of quality goals, statistics, and documentation. You identify areas for improvement and drive development work together with the management and the operations. When it is time for an accreditation inspection, you have a central role in the preparations and implementation.

We offer

  • The position is a combination of clinical nursing work and quality development. You work 50% as a nurse and 50% as a quality coordinator. Duty is Monday-Friday during office hours. The combination gives you the opportunity to maintain clinical grounding while receiving clear responsibility for developing the operations' quality work.
  • Start date and salary according to agreement. Probationary employment may be applicable.
  • During the first months, the focus is on getting into the quality coordinator assignment. You will receive introduction and support from the current quality coordinator.
  • Introduction as a nurse on the ward is planned based on your previous experience.
  • You are directly subordinate to the hematology ward's department manager and will receive regular follow-up and review regarding both the nursing and quality coordinator assignments.
  • Further training in quality development and hematology.
  • Weekly medical lectures on pathology and treatments.
  • A workplace with a high nurse density and a well-developed quality management system.
  • An engaged team where we help each other, learn from each other, and where there is an open atmosphere.
