community service worker

Duties include:

• Under the guidance of the supervisor provide ongoing intensive support services primarily through home visits to assigned families with children prenatal to age 3.
• Use the curriculum regularly to strengthen parent/child relationships and to promote parenting skills.
• Documentation in a computerized data system.
• Facilitate referrals to appropriate community resources.

Skills and qualifications:

• Demonstrated maturity and ability to be a positive role model.
• Knowledge and awareness of cultural diversity.
• Good understanding of the challenge of living on low income and ability to provide support in a non-judgemental manner.
• Experience working directly with families is an asset.
• Experience with family support services especially In Home support is strongly preferred.
• Valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle which meets safety standards.
