General Manager - Marine Engineering

Our client, a Japanese marine engineering company specialising in the repair and reconditioning of marine diesel engine components, is seeking a General Manager to oversee its Singapore operations.

【 Responsibilities 】

• Oversee the company’s Singapore business, including sales, operations, production, finance, HR, and administration.
• Manage profit and loss (P&L), budgets, profitability, and overall business performance.
• Develop and implement business strategies aligned with the direction of the headquarters in Japan.
• Lead sales and business development activities and maintain strong relationships with key marine industry customers.
• Oversee workshop and production operations to ensure quality, safety, cost efficiency, and timely delivery.
• Lead and develop department heads and employees across the organisation.
• Review operational and financial key performance indicators (KPIs) and drive continuous improvement.
• Resolve major customer, commercial, and operational issues.
• Prepare regular business reports and performance updates for the headquarters in Japan.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards, quality requirements

【 Requirements & Preferences 】

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Marine Engineering, Business, or a related discipline.
• At least 10 years of relevant experience in marine engineering, shipping, ship repair, or related industries.
• Strong experience in P&L management, budgeting, cost control, and business management.
• Strong leadership, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.

(Advantageous)

• Experience managing both commercial and operational functions.
• Established professional network with shipowners, ship management companies, or shipping companies.applicable local regulations.
