Reed Education are seeking an experienced, resilient and enthusiastic Year 5/6 Teacher to join a welcoming and community-focused primary school in the Wakefield area for a long-term maternity cover position.

This is an exciting opportunity to teach a mixed Year 5/6 class of 31 pupils within a supportive school environment that places children's education, wellbeing and personal development at the heart of everything it does. The Role

Starting from 19th October until 25th March , you will take responsibility for a mixed Year 5/6 class. Most planning is already in place, meaning your focus will be on delivering engaging lessons, adapting existing plans to meet pupils' needs, and maintaining high expectations across the classroom.

Whilst the class can present some challenges, the school has established support systems in place, including Teaching Assistants who work alongside pupils with EHCPs.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality teaching across the Key Stage 2 curriculum.
• Adapt existing lesson plans to meet the needs of individual learners.
• Create a positive, structured and engaging classroom environment.
• Support pupils in achieving both academic and personal development goals.
• Work collaboratively with Teaching Assistants and the wider staff team.
• Maintain strong behaviour management and classroom expectations.
• Track pupil progress and provide constructive feedback.

The Ideal Candidate

We would love to hear from teachers who:

• Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) .
• Have recent experience teaching within Upper Key Stage 2 .
• Demonstrate excellent behaviour management skills.
• Have experience supporting pupils with additional needs and SEND.
• Are confident differentiating learning for mixed ability classes.
• Can quickly build positive relationships with pupils, staff and parents.
• Are adaptable, proactive and committed to achieving the best outcomes for every child.
