We're recruiting for an established international engineering organisation delivering bespoke equipment and turnkey solutions across the energy sector.

Your tasks

Due to continued growth, they're looking for an experienced Thermal Engineer to take ownership of shell-and-tube heat exchanger design, working on technically challenging projects from initial concept through to manufacture and commissioning.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced engineer who wants to combine hands-on technical design with greater influence over engineering decisions, design standards and the development of others.

• Leading the thermal and hydraulic design of shell-and-tube heat exchangers.
• Developing and optimising designs for thermal performance, cost and manufacturability.
• Using Aspen EDR, HTRI or equivalent software to carry out thermal calculations.
• Working closely with mechanical engineers, manufacturing teams and customers.
• Reviewing technical specifications, process data and heat exchanger performance requirements.
• Mentoring engineers and supporting technical improvements across the business.

At Principal level, you'll also act as a technical authority, taking responsibility for design approvals and the development of thermal engineering standards.

Requirements

• A Mechanical or Chemical Engineering degree.
• Typically 6+ years' experience in heat exchanger thermal design.
• Strong working knowledge of Aspen EDR or HTRI.
• Experience designing and rating shell-and-tube heat exchangers.
• Understanding of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics and TEMA standards.

For Principal-level consideration, you'll typically bring 10+ years' experience and a background in technical checking, approvals or engineering leadership.
