Technical CAD Estimator

Location: Cumbernauld (Office Based) Salary: £36,000 - £40,000 DOE Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent

The Opportunity

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Technical CAD Estimator to join a specialist projects team delivering bespoke construction and technical installations across the leisure, wellness and built environment sectors.

This role combines CAD design, estimating, supplier coordination and technical proposal support , working on projects from initial enquiry through to installation and handover. The successful candidate will play a key role in producing technical drawings, preparing cost estimates and supporting the delivery of commercially competitive project proposals.

Key Responsibilities

• Produce accurate 2D and 3D CAD drawings for a variety of specialist projects.
• Create concept, construction, manufacturing and as-built drawings.
• Review drawings, specifications and tender documents to determine project scope.
• Prepare quantity take-offs and detailed cost estimates.
• Obtain and evaluate supplier and subcontractor quotations.
• Assist in developing technical solutions and value-engineering options.
• Prepare technical documentation, specifications and cost summaries for project proposals.
• Maintain accurate records, drawing registers and estimating information.
• Support project handovers and collaborate with internal teams throughout project delivery.

About You: Essential

• Qualification in CAD, engineering drawing, architectural technology or a related discipline.
• Previous experience in a CAD Technician, Estimator, Design Technician or similar technical role.
• Strong proficiency in AutoCAD and SketchUp .
• Ability to interpret technical, architectural or engineering drawings.
• Experience preparing estimates and reviewing supplier quotations.
• Good knowledge of Microsoft 365 applications, particularly Excel and Word.
• Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail.
• Full UK Driving Licence.

About You: Desirable

• Experience within construction, building services, manufacturing, leisure or wellness sectors.
• Knowledge of Revit or BIM software.
• Understanding of mechanical systems, plant rooms or specialist installations.
• Experience supporting tenders or technical sales proposals.
