Your tasks

The engineering challenges You'll take responsibility for the design and rating of shell-and-tube heat exchangers, including:

  • Thermal and hydraulic calculations using Aspen EDR, HTRI or equivalent software.
  • Analysing heat transfer, pressure drop, fouling and flow-induced vibration.
  • Working with condensing, boiling and two-phase process streams.
  • Selecting TEMA configurations, tube layouts, baffle arrangements and fluid allocations.
  • Reviewing process datasheets, heat and mass balances and fluid properties.
  • Optimising designs to meet performance requirements while remaining practical to manufacture.
  • Supporting technical clarification meetings, performance testing and commissioning.

You'll collaborate with pressure vessel engineers, CAD designers and manufacturing specialists to ensure mechanical and thermal designs work together effectively.

Requirements

Are you an experienced Thermal Engineer who enjoys solving challenging heat transfer problems, optimising equipment performance and developing robust, manufacturable designs?

You'll have proven experience in shell-and-tube heat exchanger design and a strong understanding of thermodynamics and heat transfer principles.

Knowledge of TEMA and experience with Aspen EDR or HTRI are essential.

Experience with Aspen HYSYS, Aspen Plus, API 660 or process simulation would be advantageous.
