An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced procurement professional to join a high-profile public sector exit programme within Shared Technology Services.

This role is focused on providing dedicated procurement and commercial support to a major organisational transition, ensuring contract exit activities, procurement processes and governance requirements are delivered effectively, compliantly and within programme deadlines. Working closely with Procurement, Legal, Finance and operational stakeholders, you will play a key role in maintaining service continuity and supporting the successful delivery of critical exit-related projects.

This role would suit an experienced Procurement Officer, Senior Procurement Officer, Procurement Specialist, Commercial Officer, Commercial Manager, Procurement Business Partner, Category Manager or Contract Manager with strong public sector procurement experience who can hit the ground running in a fast-paced programme environment.

Key Details:

  • Pay: Up to £450 per day Umbrella
  • Location: London, HA9 (3 days per week onsite)
  • Job Type: Full-time
  • Contract: Temporary, initially for 3 months
  • Working Hours: Monday to Friday, standard office hours (36 hours per week)

The Role:

As Interim Exit Procurement Officer, you will support a broad range of procurement and commercial activities associated with contract transitions, novations, extensions, re-procurements and governance approvals.

This is a hands-on delivery role requiring an individual who can quickly understand complex contract portfolios, coordinate stakeholders, maintain robust procurement records and ensure all activities are undertaken in accordance with public sector procurement regulations and governance requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support procurement and commercial workstreams associated with a large-scale exit programme.
  • Coordinate contract transition activities, including novations, extensions, variations, contract expiries and re-procurements.
  • Maintain and manage contract registers, transition trackers, action logs and procurement records.
  • Review and validate contract information, including suppliers, contract values, notice periods, expiry dates and ownership details.
  • Prepare procurement reports, award recommendations, extension papers and governance submissions.
  • Support procurement exercises, framework call-offs, mini-competitions, direct awards and tender processes.
  • Engage with suppliers to support transition planning and procurement activities.
  • Work closely with Legal, Finance, technical teams and senior stakeholders to progress programme deliverables.
  • Monitor milestones, contractual deadlines, dependencies, risks and actions across the programme.
  • Ensure robust audit trails, governance compliance and procurement assurance throughout all activities.

About You:

To be successful in this role, you will possess a strong public sector procurement background and be comfortable managing multiple procurement and commercial activities simultaneously.

You will ideally have:

  • Experience working within a Local Authority or similar public sector organisation.
  • Strong procurement and contract management experience across the full procurement lifecycle.
  • Knowledge of the Procurement Act 2023 and public sector procurement regulations.
  • Experience managing framework agreements, direct awards and mini-competitions.
  • Experience preparing procurement documentation, governance reports and approval papers.
  • Strong supplier and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience maintaining contract registers, trackers and audit records.
  • The ability to analyse complex contractual and procurement information.
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
  • Advanced Excel and data management capabilities.

  • Working across multiple stakeholder groups within a shared services environment.
