Senior Business Manager

Location: Fylde Primary School Contract Type: Full-Time Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 08:30am – 4:30pm (30-minute lunch break) Salary: Dependent on experience Potential for Permanent Employment: Yes

We are excited to offer an opportunity for an experienced and highly organised Senior Business Manager to join a welcoming and supportive school environment. This role is ideal for a professional who can take ownership of the school's business operations, providing strategic and operational support across finance, administration, HR, premises, and compliance.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Lead and manage the school's administrative and business support functions.
  • Act as a key member of the school's leadership and operational team.
  • Manage financial processes including budgeting, monitoring expenditure, procurement, and financial reporting.
  • Oversee HR administration, recruitment, onboarding, contracts, and personnel records.
  • Ensure the effective use and administration of SIMS and other school management systems.
  • Monitor attendance, admissions, pupil data, and statutory returns.
  • Support compliance with safeguarding, health and safety, GDPR, and other statutory requirements.
  • Manage contracts and relationships with external suppliers and service providers.
  • Support strategic planning and contribute to school improvement priorities.
  • Line manage administration staff and ensure high standards of service delivery.
  • Work closely with the Headteacher and Senior Leadership Team to support the smooth running of the school.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in a School Business Manager, Senior Administrator, or equivalent school-based role.
  • Strong working knowledge of SIMS.
  • Experience managing school finances and budgets.
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritise workloads and work independently.
  • Good understanding of HR processes and school compliance requirements.
  • Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with staff, governors, parents, and external stakeholders.

Desirable:

  • School Business Management qualification or relevant business qualification.
  • Experience within a primary school setting.
  • Knowledge of education sector funding and procurement processes.
