SEND PMLD Lecturer
SEND Teacher Hourly rate: 30-40p/h Location: North London Job Type: Part-time (4 days per week) We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled SEND Teacher for an immediate start within our Supported Studies provision. This role involves working primarily with learners with Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD) and Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), requiring a teacher with substantial experience in specialist SEND settings and a strong understanding of delivering a highly personalised, sensory-based curriculum. Day-to-day of the role: Recognise and respond to subtle communication cues and indicators of engagement from learners. Deliver learning through sensory exploration, interaction, and meaningful experiences, focusing on communication, engagement, independence, wellbeing, community participation, and preparation for adulthood. Plan highly personalised learning opportunities linked to EHCP outcomes and individual needs. Work closely with therapists, learning support assistants, families, and other professionals to ensure a consistent and holistic approach to support. Lead and direct a team of Learning Support Assistants effectively. Required Skills & Qualifications: Significant experience working with learners with PMLD and/or SLD. Strong understanding of person-centred practice and EHCP outcomes. Experience in supporting learners with complex communication, sensory, and physical needs. Proficient in behaviour support and classroom management within a specialist SEND environment. Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams. Strong communication and organisational skills. A commitment to inclusive practice and high aspirations for learners with complex needs. Experience in sensory curriculum approaches such as Intensive Interaction, Sensory Storytelling, TacPac, Attention Autism, and AAC approaches.
