SEND Caseworker
We are currently working with a Local Authority who are seeking a dedicated SEND caseworker to join them on an initial 12 month contract. The right candidate will have previous experience in SEND, and will support the fulfilment of the Local Authority’s responsibilities in relation to Education, Health and Care (EHC) assessments, plans, and reviews. This role is crucial in managing the EHC needs assessment and review processes for children and young people. This role is offered on a hybrid basis preferably, but can be offered remotely to the right candidate. This role can also be offered on both a full time and part time basis. Day-to-Day Responsibilities: Hold and manage an EHCP caseload, including assessments, reviews, and amendments. Liaise with families and professionals to draft and finalise quality plans Conduct coordinated, person-centred, outcome-focused EHC needs assessments. Draft high-quality, compliant EHCPs with clear needs, provision, and SMART outcomes. Make legally binding decisions regarding EHC assessments and provision. Commission specialist placements, packages of support, and personal budgets. Attend mediation and represent the Local Authority at SEND Tribunal hearings. Respond to legal challenges, Ombudsman complaints, and DfE enquiries. Lead multi-agency working with education, health, and social care partners. Provide support and guidance to less experienced colleagues.
Essential Requirements: We’re looking for someone who brings: Strong experience within a local authority SEND setting In-depth knowledge of EHCP processes, SEND legislation, and annual reviews Excellent organisational, communication, and interpersonal skills Ability to manage complex caseloads and statutory processes Advanced English communication skills for sensitive stakeholder interactions
