SEMH Maths Teacher (Secondary) Inspire, Engage, Transform Lives Through Education Are you a passionate Maths Teacher who thrives on building positive relationships and helping young people overcome barriers to learning? We are seeking a dedicated and resilient SEMH Maths Teacher to join a specialist secondary setting supporting students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs . This is an exciting opportunity to make a genuine difference to the lives of young people who require a creative, patient and nurturing approach to education. The Role As an SEMH Maths Teacher, you will deliver engaging and differentiated Maths lessons to secondary-aged pupils who may have experienced disrupted education, behavioural challenges, trauma, anxiety, or other additional needs. You will play a key role in raising attainment whilst helping students develop confidence, resilience and a positive attitude towards learning. Working as part of a supportive multidisciplinary team, you will create a safe and structured classroom environment where students feel valued, understood and motivated to succeed. Key Responsibilities Plan and deliver engaging Maths lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4. Adapt teaching strategies to meet individual learning, behavioural and emotional needs. Foster positive relationships with pupils to encourage engagement and achievement. Monitor progress and maintain accurate assessment records. Support students in developing emotional regulation, social skills and self-confidence. Manage challenging behaviour using restorative and therapeutic approaches. Work collaboratively with support staff, pastoral teams, families and external professionals. Contribute to EHCP targets and personalised learning plans where appropriate. Prepare students for GCSE and other relevant qualifications. What We're Looking For Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/QTLS) or equivalent teaching qualification. Experience teaching Maths at secondary level. Strong classroom management skills and a calm, resilient approach. A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable young people. Ability to build trust and maintain professional boundaries. Excellent communication and teamwork skills. Experience working with SEMH, SEND, behaviour support, alternative provision or specialist settings is highly desirable.
