Retail Sales Assistant

Location: Bury St Edmunds Salary: £26,500 Hours: Full-time, 5 days per week (weekend rota required)

The Opportunity

We are recruiting for a friendly and customer-focused Retail Sales Assistant to join a successful and well-established retailer in Bury St Edmunds. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys working with customers, has a passion for creating a positive shopping experience, and takes pride in delivering excellent service.

You'll be helping customers find the right products for their needs, maintaining attractive showroom displays, and supporting the day-to-day running of the store.

Key Responsibilities

Customer Service

• Welcome customers and provide a warm, professional service.
• Offer product advice and recommendations based on customer requirements.
• Respond to enquiries in person, by phone, and via email.
• Help customers make informed purchasing decisions.

Sales & Store Support

• Develop a strong knowledge of the product range and current promotions.
• Identify opportunities to upsell and cross-sell where appropriate.
• Process sales accurately through the till system.
• Support the team in achieving store sales targets.

Showroom & Merchandising

• Ensure displays are clean, organised, and visually appealing.
• Assist with merchandising and seasonal product displays.
• Replenish stock and maintain high presentation standards.
• Check display products are functioning correctly and safely.

Operations

• Receive and check deliveries.
• Prepare customer orders for collection or delivery.
• Assist with stock control and stock checks.
• Follow health and safety procedures at all times.

What We're Looking For

• Previous experience in a retail or customer-facing role.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Confident, friendly, and approachable manner.
• Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Basic IT skills.
• A proactive attitude and willingness to learn.
