Project Manager-Major Water Infrastructure.
Your tasks
Project Information A £3.7bn wastewater and drainage scheme involving up to 138km of new sewers, a transfer tunnel and 37ha of sustainable drainage has been proposed to protect Windermere.
The plans are to intercept and transfer wastewater away from England’s largest natural lake for advanced treatment, while also intercepting highway runoff.
The infrastructure could increase wastewater provision across the catchment by up to 75% and connect approximately 12,800 people to public sewers for the first time.
This would represent a 75% increase in wastewater infrastructure.
The cost of this project, dubbed Only Rainwater into Windermere, would be an estimated £3.7bn according to the development coalition, which consists of the Environment Agency, Lake District National Park Authority, Save Windermere, Love Windermere, and Westmorland and Furness Council.
