Junior Project Freight Coordinator
Location: Shepperton Salary: £28,000 - £35,000 Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent
About the Role
I am looking for a motivated and ambitious Junior Project Freight Coordinator to join my clients' growing Projects division. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a couple years of experience within the freight forwarding industry who is looking to develop their career in specialist project logistics.
Whilst previous project logistics experience would be beneficial, it is not essential. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of general freight operations and be eager to learn how to manage complex project shipments from planning through to delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Obtain and negotiate rates and quotations from suppliers and freight partners.
- Prepare accurate customer quotations and pricing proposals.
- Assist with the planning and coordination of project cargo movements.
- Liaise with suppliers, carriers, agents and customers to ensure smooth execution of shipments.
- Support the management of project logistics operations from enquiry through to completion.
- Monitor shipment progress and provide regular updates to customers and stakeholders.
- Resolve operational issues and proactively identify solutions when challenges arise.
- Maintain accurate records and ensure all documentation is completed correctly.
- Build strong relationships with customers, suppliers and internal teams.
Skills & Experience
Essential
- 2+ years' experience within freight forwarding, logistics or supply chain operations.
- Good understanding of international freight movements across air, sea, and/or road freight.
- Strong organisational and planning skills.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to build relationships at all levels.
- Commercial awareness and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
Desirable
- Exposure to project logistics or oversized cargo movements.
- Experience preparing commercial quotations and pricing.
- Knowledge of import/export documentation and customs procedures.
