Production Scheduler

This is an excellent opportunity to join one of London's most vital transport organisations, playing a key role in planning, coordinating, and monitoring production activities within a railway engineering environment. You will be responsible for ensuring work is scheduled efficiently, resources are effectively allocated, and maintenance and engineering activities are delivered safely, on time, and to the highest standards.

Pay Rate £29.25 per hour PAYE £38.08 per hour Umbrella

The Role

As a Production Scheduler, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining production schedules that support fleet maintenance, engineering activities, and operational requirements. Working closely with engineering, maintenance, procurement, and operational teams, you will ensure work is planned efficiently and delivered in line with business objectives.

This role requires excellent organisational skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities within a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and monitor daily, weekly, and long-term production schedules.
• Coordinate resources, including personnel, materials, equipment, and maintenance facilities.
• Monitor workflow throughout the production process to ensure work progresses efficiently.
• Track production performance against plans and identify any delays, risks, or bottlenecks.
• Generate, release, and manage work orders to support operational requirements.
• Maintain accurate records of labour hours, material usage, and production activities.
• Liaise with engineering, maintenance, procurement, and operations teams to ensure schedules remain achievable.
• Analyse production data and performance metrics to support planning decisions.
• Ensure stock and material availability aligns with operational demand.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives to increase efficiency and reduce waste.
• Ensure all activities comply with TfL safety standards, procedures, and regulations.
• Utilise SAP and other production planning systems to manage schedules and track progress.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:

• Previous experience in a production planning, scheduling, or resource planning role.
• Experience working within engineering, rail, manufacturing, maintenance, or operational environments.
• Strong knowledge of planning and scheduling systems such as SAP or similar production management software.
• Excellent organisational and time management skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Exceptional attention to detail and data accuracy.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively under pressure.
• Good understanding of health, safety, and compliance requirements.

Desirable Experience

• Previous experience within the rail, transport, or heavy engineering sectors.
• Understanding of rolling stock maintenance or railway infrastructure planning.
• Experience analysing production performance and implementing process improvements.
• Knowledge of resource forecasting and capacity planning.

• Creating and updating production schedules.
• Monitoring work progress and resolving scheduling conflicts.
• Coordinating maintenance and engineering activities.
• Managing material availability and stock requirements.
• Reviewing performance reports and identifying improvement opportunities.
• Recording labour hours and production data.
• Working closely with internal teams and external suppliers to maintain operational efficiency.
