Pastoral Focused Teaching Assistant

Full Time | Monday to Friday | 08:30am - 3:30pm

We are recruiting a Teaching Assistant to support pupils aged 11-16 within a small, nurturing alternative provision. Many students have experienced significant challenges, including lengthy periods out of education, school refusal, trauma, or permanent exclusion from mainstream schools.

This is a rewarding opportunity to work closely with young people who need positive role models, consistency, and encouragement to re-engage with learning and school life.

The Role

• Providing 1:1 and small group support to pupils with SEMH needs
• Building positive, trusting relationships with young people
• Supporting emotional regulation, behaviour and engagement in learning
• Helping students develop confidence, resilience and independence
• Working alongside teachers and pastoral staff to achieve positive outcomes

We're Looking For Someone Who:

• Has experience working with young people in education, youth work, care, mentoring, coaching or similar settings
• Is calm, patient and resilient
• Can build rapport with pupils who may be disengaged from education
• Is confident managing challenging behaviour positively and consistently
• Is passionate about helping vulnerable young people succeed

This position would suit an experienced Teaching Assistant, Learning Mentor, Youth Worker, Behaviour Mentor, Sports Coach or Support Worker looking to have a meaningful impact on the lives of young people who need it most.
