Mechanical Building Services Technician Location: Hertfordshire Salary: Competitive Rate + Excellent Benefits Package Job Type: Permanent, Full-Time Mechanical Building Services Technician Opportunity An exciting opportunity has arisen for a skilled Mechanical Building Services Technician to join a busy estates engineering team within a highly regulated, state-of-the-art commercial environment. This role is ideal for a mechanically biased engineer with electrical knowledge who is looking for a long-term position within a professional and technically challenging facility. You will play a key role in ensuring the reliable, safe and compliant operation of building services systems across a large and complex site, delivering both planned and reactive maintenance while maintaining the highest operational standards. Working Hours Staggered shifts: 07:00 - 16:00 09:30 - 18:00
On-call rota participation required Overtime & On-Call Enhancement Monday to Saturday: 1.5x hourly rate Sundays & Bank Holidays: 2x hourly rate Time Off In Lieu (TOIL) provided for Bank Holiday call-outs Key Responsibilities Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance on mechanical and electrical building services equipment. Ensure estate-wide plant and equipment operate safely, efficiently and in compliance with statutory requirements. Maintain and repair HVAC, chilled water and hot water systems. Liaise with stakeholders to coordinate maintenance activities with minimal disruption. Diagnose faults and undertake repairs across a range of building services systems. Update maintenance records using CMMS systems. Support safe systems of work and health & safety compliance across site. What We're Looking For Essential Mechanical engineering qualification including a full apprenticeship or relevant electrical engineering qualification. Multi-skilled engineering experience with both mechanical and electrical knowledge. Experience with: AHUs, FCUs and chilled water systems LTHW (Low Temperature Hot Water) systems Motor controls and relay logic Planned and reactive maintenance within commercial or critical environments
Knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and safe systems of work. Ability to interpret technical drawings, schematics and equipment manuals. Strong IT skills and experience using CMMS/BMS systems. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Flexibility to work outside standard hours when required. Desirable ONC/HNC qualification.
