Lunch Time Supervisor
Your tasks
We are seeking a caring and dedicated SEND Lunch Supervisor to join a welcoming school in South Norwood. This role involves supporting children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) during lunchtime, ensuring they have a safe, positive, and enjoyable experience throughout the midday period.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Supervise and support pupils with SEND during lunch and break times.
- Promote a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment for all students.
- Assist pupils with eating, communication, mobility, or personal needs where required.
- Encourage positive behaviour and support pupils in developing social skills.
- Monitor student wellbeing and promptly report any concerns to school staff.
- Support transitions between the classroom, dining hall, playground, and other school areas.
- Work closely with teachers and support staff to ensure pupils receive appropriate support.
- Help set up and tidy dining areas before and after lunch.
Requirements
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Experience working with children, ideally within a SEND or educational setting.
- A patient, caring, and nurturing approach.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage behaviour positively and calmly.
- Understanding of additional needs such as Autism, ADHD, SEMH, or learning difficulties is desirable.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
