Reed Education are proud to be working in partnership with a welcoming and supportive primary school in the WF2 area of Wakefield who are seeking a dedicated, resilient and experienced SEND Teaching Assistant to support a Year 3 pupil on a 1:1 basis.

This is a highly rewarding opportunity for a compassionate professional who can build positive relationships whilst providing consistent support to a child with behavioural and emotional needs. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in helping the pupil regulate emotions, access learning and achieve positive outcomes both inside and outside of the classroom environment.

About the Role

You will be providing dedicated 1:1 support to a Year 3 pupil who can become dysregulated and may display challenging behaviours, including physical behaviours during periods of heightened emotion. As a result, this role requires someone who remains calm under pressure, can confidently de-escalate situations and is committed to supporting the child's development with patience, understanding and consistency.

The pupil may spend periods both within and outside of the classroom, so flexibility and adaptability are essential.

The Ideal Candidate Will:

• Have previous experience supporting pupils with SEND, SEMH, behavioural or additional needs.
• Be confident supporting children who may display challenging or physical behaviours.
• Remain calm, composed and solution-focused in difficult situations.
• Be nurturing, supportive and skilled at building trusting relationships.
• Have a strong understanding of behaviour management strategies and emotional regulation techniques.
• Be able to work closely with teaching staff, SEND professionals and parents.
• Demonstrate resilience, patience and a genuine passion for helping children achieve their potential.
• Be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Essential Requirements

• Previous experience working as a SEND Teaching Assistant, Behaviour Support Worker, SEMH Support Worker or similar role.
• Enhanced DBS Certificate registered on the Update Service (highly desirable).
• Right to work in the UK.
• Ability to provide satisfactory references covering recent employment.
