Group HR Manager
Location: Durham (Fully Onsite) Hours: Full-Time, Monday to Friday (40 hours per week) Salary: £60,000 Depending on Experience
We are delighted to be partnering with a leading North East construction and civil engineering business to recruit a Group HR Manager. This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing, family-owned organisation that places its people, safety and values at the heart of everything it does.
Reporting to the Group HR Director, this is a broad and hands-on generalist role supporting managers and employees across the full employee lifecycle. The successful candidate will help drive business growth, ensure compliance and maintain the people-focused culture that has contributed to the company's success.
The Role
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing day-to-day HR support and guidance to managers across the business.
- Managing employee relations matters including absence, disciplinary, grievance and performance cases.
- Ensuring compliance with employment legislation and HR best practice.
- Supporting recruitment, onboarding and workforce planning activities.
- Supporting succession planning, talent development and apprenticeship initiatives.
- Reviewing and improving HR policies, processes and procedures.
- Supporting HR projects and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Promoting a positive, collaborative and inclusive workplace culture.
About You
We are looking for a practical and approachable HR professional who enjoys building relationships and supporting people in a fast-paced environment.
You will bring:
- Experience in a HR Manager, HR Business Partner or senior HR generalist role.
- CIPD Level 5 qualification or equivalent experience.
- Experience within construction or another fast-paced operational environment.
- Strong knowledge of UK employment law and employee relations.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- A proactive, solutions-focused approach.
- Experience supporting organisational growth and change.
