Freight Project Coordinator - Junior role

Our client is seeking a driven and enthusiastic Junior Project Freight Coordinator to join their expanding Projects team. This role is ideal for someone with a minimum of 1 years' experience in freight forwarding who is keen to broaden their knowledge and build a long-term career within project logistics.

Experience within project cargo or specialist logistics would be advantageous, but it is not a requirement. What's most important is a grounding in freight forwarding operations and a willingness to learn. You'll be supported in developing the skills needed to manage project shipments from initial enquiry through to successful completion.

Key Duties

• Sourcing and obtaining freight rates from suppliers, carriers and service providers.
• Producing customer quotations and pricing solutions.
• Assisting with the organisation and scheduling of project-related shipments.
• Communicating with customers, agents, suppliers and carriers to ensure shipments run smoothly.
• Coordinating project movements from quotation stage through to final delivery.
• Tracking shipments and providing updates to customers and key stakeholders.
• Troubleshooting operational issues and finding practical solutions when required.
• Ensuring all shipping documentation and records are accurate and up to date.
• Developing and maintaining strong working relationships with both customers and service providers.

Experience Required

Essential

• Minimum of 1 years' experience within freight forwarding, logistics or supply chain operations.
• Knowledge of international freight movements across air, sea or road freight.
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise a varied workload.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
• Commercial awareness and a high level of attention to detail.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced operational environment.
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages.

Desirable

• Previous exposure to project logistics or specialist cargo movements.
• Experience preparing freight quotations and pricing proposals.
• Understanding of customs procedures and import/export documentation.
