The Role

As Freight Operator, you will be responsible for coordinating the movement of freight from origin through to final delivery, ensuring shipments are handled efficiently and in line with customer requirements. You will liaise with carriers, customers, suppliers and internal stakeholders to ensure a seamless transport process while maintaining high levels of service and compliance.

The successful candidate will thrive in a busy operational environment and possess strong organisational and communication skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate import and export shipments across road, sea and air freight services
  • Arrange transportation, bookings and customs documentation where required
  • Monitor shipment progress and provide proactive updates to customers
  • Liaise with carriers, hauliers and overseas agents to ensure timely deliveries
  • Resolve operational issues and transportation delays efficiently
  • Maintain accurate records within internal freight management systems
  • Ensure compliance with all transport regulations and company procedures
  • Build strong relationships with customers and suppliers to support service excellence

Skills & Experience Required

  • Previous experience within freight forwarding, logistics or transport operations
  • Knowledge of import and export procedures and freight documentation
  • Experience coordinating road, sea or air freight movements
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workloads effectively
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Proficient IT skills including Microsoft Office and freight management systems
