Sheffield City Council is seeking a dedicated and customer-oriented Facilities Officer to join our Facilities Management team. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the maintenance and enhancement of council buildings, ensuring they provide safe, clean, compliant, and welcoming environments for public services.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Monitor and maintain high standards of building cleanliness, safety, and presentation.
  • Support the management of contracted services such as cleaning, security, waste management, and grounds maintenance.
  • Conduct building inspections and report any defects or maintenance issues.
  • Assist with health and safety compliance, including audits, risk assessments, and statutory checks.
  • Respond to customer enquiries and resolve facilities-related issues promptly.
  • Support office moves, events, and changes to building layouts to meet operational needs.
  • Manage service records and maintain accurate documentation to ensure compliance and efficiency.
  • Work collaboratively with contractors and service providers to ensure performance standards are met.
  • Assist with emergency response arrangements and business continuity plans as required.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Experience in facilities management, property, building services, or a similar operational environment.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills, capable of building positive relationships with colleagues, customers, and contractors.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Practical problem-solving skills with a proactive approach.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and familiarity with electronic record systems.
  • Good understanding of health and safety principles and compliance requirements.
  • Commitment to delivering high-quality public services.
