Facilities Maintenance Engineer

Location: Consett Employment Type: Permanent Annual Salary: up to £47000.00

Day-to-day of the role:

• Conduct planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance across various site facilities and infrastructure.
• Diagnose and repair faults in electrical, mechanical, and building services.
• Maintain essential services such as lighting, power supplies, heating, ventilation, and water systems.
• Respond promptly to breakdowns and facilities-related issues, ensuring minimal downtime.
• Conduct routine inspections and identify potential issues to implement preventative measures.
• Assist with the installation and commissioning of new facilities equipment and services.
• Liaise with contractors and ensure compliance with safety procedures and permit-to-work requirements.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and support statutory inspections.
• Identify and implement improvements in equipment reliability, energy efficiency, and maintenance processes.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Recognised engineering qualification or equivalent practical experience.
• Strong background in mechanical and/or electrical maintenance.
• Proven fault-finding and root cause analysis skills.
• Familiarity with health and safety regulations in an engineering environment.
• Ability to work independently and manage priorities effectively.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a practical, hands-on approach.

Desirable Skills & Experience:

• Experience with HVAC, compressed air systems, pumps, water systems, and BMS.
• Knowledge of fire alarm systems, emergency lighting, generators, and UPS systems.
• Experience with energy management and contractor management.
• Familiarity with Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
• IOSH or NEBOSH qualifications are a plus.
