Engineer- Development Approvals (housing).

Reed, on behalf of Leicestershire council are looking to recruit for contract Engineer, to be involved in housing development approvals throughout the county, focussing specifically on the technical reviews of developer’s design submissions for the developer approval area.

Client: Leicestershire Council Role : Engineer- Development Approvals (housing) Location : WFH/Office Length of Contract : 6 months Day rate : £440 Umbrella Hours per week : 37, Monday to Friday

Introduction:

We are experiencing a surge in work, with developers submitting detailed designs for new roads to be adopted by the Highway Authority. The process involves Section 38 and Section 278 agreements, and the team is under pressure due to the high volume of applications, which has led to delays and complaints from developers.

Engineer Duties:

• Appraising submitted designs against local and national standards, liaising with developers' designers and consultants, and ensuring submissions reach a technically approvable standard.
• The successful candidate will support the senior design engineer currently handling these appraisals
• Communicating between all parties to ensure the best viable outcomes for the projects.
• Coordinating with various inhouse/internal teams eg: structures. Street lighting etc.
• Giving technical advice to Members, partners and stakeholders on programmes and projects to ensure appropriate communication and dialogue take place, including writing reports
• To assist in the management of project teams, to ensure the effective and efficient provision of appropriate customer focused, high-quality services in accordance with County Council policies, Government and legislative requirements

• New builds from 50-2000 new homes
• District and parish councils for public realms schemes to improve high street features
• Active sites- large 100-200 dwellings
• Lots of Late stages projects
• Housing and section 278 for access

Candidate experience

• Housing development approval experience
• Experience in working within a local authority development environment
• Strong communication and stakeholder experience
• HNC or above qualification in Engineering
